Retrieval of Aerosol Optical Depth over Urban Areas Using Terra/modis Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
Satellite remote sensing retrieval has shown excellent competence at retrieving the aerosol distribution and properties comparing with traditional detection. The extended dark dense vegetation (DDV) algorithm for MODIS data was used widely all over the world. However, whether this algorithm can be transferred to high reflectivity areas of China is not known yet, especially in urban area and its surroundings. In this paper, we attempt to derive Aerosol Optical Depths (AOD) by exploiting the extended dense vegetation algorithm and TERRA/MODIS data. Preliminary validation results by comparing with in situ measured data show good accuracy and promising potential in different seasons of China urban areas. * Corresponding author.

A New Algorithm for Retrieving Aerosol Optical Thickness Using TERRA/MODIS Satellite Images
Aerosol detection and monitoring from satellite platforms has made significant advances over the past decade. While several state-ofthe-art aerosol retrieval techniques provide aerosol properties at global scale, the more detailed spatial patterns remain unknown because most of the relevant satellite sensors operate at coarse resolution. A new aerosol retrieval algorithm for the Moderate Resolu...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Depth Spatial and Temporal Variability Using Satellite Data Over Indian Major Cities
Introduction: The study’s main aim is to investigate the long-term variation of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD). It also aims to show the relationship between meteorological parameters. This study evaluates long-term (2010 to 2021) special and temporal changes over major Indian regions using satellite-based data from NASA’s Terra Satellite. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out during ...
متن کاملAssessment and comparison of three years of Terra and Aqua MODIS Aerosol Optical Depth Retrieval (C005) in Chinese terrestrial regions
Article history: Received 15 July 2009 Received in revised form 8 February 2010 Accepted 9 April 2010 The latestMODIS aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrieval algorithm (C005) based on analyses of global AERONET data for both Terra and Aqua satellites has gradually supplanted the older algorithm (C004) since 2006. However, due to few AERONET sites in China, assessing applications of MODIS products...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Depth investigated with satellite remote sensing observations in China
In this study, Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) at 550nm from the MODIS sensor on board the Terra/Aqua satellites were compared with sun photometer (CE-318) measurements from 11 AERONET stations in China. The average correlation coefficient (R) value from the AOD product, using the Aqua-MODIS Deep Blue algorithm, in the Hexi Corridor was 0.67. The MODIS Dark Target algorithm AOD product is superior ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Visible/SWIR surface reflectance ratios for aerosol retrievals from satellite in Mexico City urban area
The surface reflectance ratio between the visible (VIS) and shortwave infrared (SWIR) radiation is an important quantity for the retrieval of the aerosol optical depth (τa) from the MODIS sensor data. Based on empirically determined VIS/SWIR ratios, MODIS τa retrieval uses the surface reflectance in the SWIR band (2.1μm), where the interaction between solar radiation and the aerosol layer is sm...
